The
girls and boys grow up witnessing/experiencing abuse both physical &
emotional, violence (physical & mental torture), misadventure etc
prevailing at home and outside in our society thus imbibe misconceptions about
opposite gender. The wrong perceptions/beliefs so developed by adolescents about
physical and mental being of opposite gender later on results in difficult emotional
adulthood. The need to introduce sex education in school curriculum is now
being advocated vociferously. A male psychologist is best qualified
professional to counsel both boys and girls as against the prevailing
misconception/beliefs in our society. He can explain the misconceptions about
opposite gender in a better way as he understands the psychology from both male
& female perspective. The concept that girls may have inhibitions about
opening up to a male professional is no more valid. Only a male professional
can make a female understand male behavior (physical & mental response) in
a better way to tide over her core beliefs, doubts & sufferings.
